The Vitranc ski slope will welcome the best skiers in the world this weekend. Slovenian skiers already presented their goals at a press conference of the Ski Association of Slovenia.
Žan Kranjec, Štefan Hadalin, Žan Grošelj, Aljaž Dvornik and Borut Božič will compete at Saturday's giant slalom, which will start at 9:30 a.m., while Kranjc, Hadalin, Grošelj, Dvornik, Matevž Rupnik and Žan Špilar will compete at Sunday’s slalom, which will start at the same time as Saturday’s giant slalom.
Klemen Bergant, the responsible trainer for technical disciplines, said:
"For the two skiers who compete in technical disciplines in the World Cup throughout this season, the goals for a home race are known, and they are no different than for the races held elsewhere. Žan Kranjec is focused on giant slalom, where he will start the race among the best seven skiers for the first time in his career. I hope he will start as the first racer and that he will not have to wait for half a year to draw his bib number 1. The goal is to stay where he has his bib number.
There are three boys who will compete in the World Cup, and for the first time there will be also a racer who was born in this millennium, i.e. Borut Božič, at the men's start. That’s quite a big challenge for any young racers.
How did we spend three, four days since we returned from South Korea? I fall asleep very quickly in the evening, and I woke up in the morning, which is good on the one hand. I usually wake up at three and up until seven o’clock I can arrange all office work and get ready for training. I think we all have problems with a jet leg right now. But I'm sure that all of our racers will show the best they know this weekend."
